In a bid to revitalize its tourism sector, South Korea has announced an extension of its visa fee waiver for group tourists from six countries, including China and India, through December 31, 2026. This initiative, spearheaded by South Korea’s Ministry of Justice, targets group travelers from China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, and Cambodia, aiming to enhance tourism and foster stronger people-to-people connections.
The decision comes as South Korea experiences a surge in visitors from China and Southeast Asia, prompting efforts to support the ongoing recovery of its tourism industry. With China remaining the largest source of inbound tourists to South Korea, the extended visa fee waiver is expected to further boost visitor numbers, benefiting sectors such as retail, hospitality, and duty-free shopping.
In addition to the visa policy extension, South Korea has rolled out other measures to attract international tourists. These include expanded marketing campaigns and the introduction of long-term multiple-entry visas for eligible travelers.
