As Türkiye and China celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations, the two nations are strengthening their ties with increased collaboration in various sectors such as trade, technology, energy, and regional affairs. Türkiye’s Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, highlighted the deep-rooted connection between the countries, which dates back to the historic Silk Road that facilitated trade, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic interactions.
Diplomatic relations between Türkiye and China were formally established in 1971, and the partnership has flourished significantly since then. China has now emerged as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with their annual bilateral trade exceeding $50 billion. Enhanced connectivity is evident as passenger and cargo flights between major cities in both countries have increased, and Türkiye has bolstered its diplomatic presence in China with multiple consulates and heightened economic engagement.
Ambassador Ünal emphasized that both nations are committed to expanding cooperation in pivotal sectors, including artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. He noted that Ankara and Beijing share common perspectives on numerous international and regional issues, prioritizing peace, stability, and development while striving to prevent conflicts.
