Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Beijing, urging both Tehran and Washington to exercise restraint and return to diplomatic negotiations amid escalating tensions. Wang emphasized that continued conflict between the United States and Iran is detrimental not only to the involved nations but also to the broader international community.

In their discussions, Wang called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and stressed the importance of maintaining safe international shipping routes to ensure global energy supplies and the stability of international supply chains. He highlighted the need for both countries to adhere to their existing memorandum of understanding and to rebuild negotiations based on previously established agreements.

Araghchi acknowledged the validity of the existing US-Iran memorandum and expressed readiness to collaborate with regional countries to enhance relations and security.

Araghchi also expressed appreciation for China’s proposals aimed at strengthening peace and security in the region. He conveyed Tehran’s interest in deepening cooperation with Beijing, indicating a shared commitment to addressing regional challenges through peaceful means.
